It has been a while since I took part in a challenge and this one caught my eye.
My Card
I decided I wanted to use stripes of colour in my project, but instead of stamped stripes, I opted for strips of coloured card. I picked 5 colours from the Regal palette of colours – Rich Razzleberry; Pumpkin Pie; Real Red; Garden Green and Crushed Curry.
I used my mini trimmer to cut strips that measured 2.5cm x 8.5cm. This fabulous little trimmer is only available to people who sign up for the starter kit during Sale-a-Bration. You can find lots more about all the benefits of Sale-a-Bration on an earlier blog post here
I wanted my strips to have added texture, so I used the Basket Weave 3D to emboss the card.
I cut a large stitched oval from Whisper White cardstock. To decorate the panel, I took some of the Regal 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper and punched out some shapes – 3 leaves, 3 flowers and 2 butterflies that I stamped first with Stayzon ink and the Butterfly Gala stamp set.
I placed the punched pieces on my Stampin’ pierce mat and used an embossing tool to give them shape and dimension.
I used Blackberry Bliss for the card base. A Whisper White mat measuring 13.9cm x 9.5cmwas adhered to the card front. I stuck the strips onto this white card at slight angles and the white oval was stuck on top of the strips. The flowers, leaves and butterflies were arranged on the stitched oval , with some elements being raised up with dimensionals.
The “For You” sentiment came from the Well Said set. This is such a great, comprehensive set of sentiments.
The finishing touches were some basic rhinestones and a bow from the Crumb Cake Nature’s Twine.
