The acronym Kiss stands for – “Keep It Simple Stupid”. Perhaps “Keep It Simple Stamper” would be more appropriate.
Like many crafters, I love a technique, or a fancy fold, It is great fun to be surrounded by your tools, inks, embellishments, embossing powders, pastes, aqua painters….. the list is endless. I have been card making for over 15 years. I am absolutely an unapologetic addict – an avid crafter. But once upon a time, I had to make a start
My humble beginnings came when my work colleague (the lovely Debbie) bought in her stamps, ink and paper, plus a heat embossing tool and embossing powder. It was for an activity with a group of children at an After School Group for looked after children in the Family Centre where we were both Family Support Workers. I was instantly hooked.
We have both moved on and Debbie is now living her own dream, running her Beautiful Bridal Shop in the Leicestershire countryside. You can check her out here
Getting Started
It is always good to remember where you started, because we want to inspire new crafters. We want to share our hobby, just as Debbie did with me all those years ago.
Stampin’ Up have been putting a lot of work into helping to inspire beginner crafters and encouraging Demonstrators to create Simple Stamping projects. Going back to basics – stamps, ink and paper.
Alongside the Annual Catalogue, In June this year Stampin’ Up also introduced their “Experience Creativity” brochure. This little publication is bursting with inspiration and help for anyone taking their first tentative steps into cardmaking.
It contains:
- Kits
- Exclusive Stamp Sets
- Bundles that provide the beginner with everything they need to get started
- Inspiration
- Helpful Tips
Not only does the brochure provide support for the beginner stamper, but there are also a series of You Tube videos that Stampin’ Up have produced to work hand in hand with the publication. You can find those here.
Ducklings at Play
Last Friday I met with some members of my team for our Team Lunch and this little brochure was just one of the things on our Agenda. But we are crafters. We couldn’t just talk about the projects in the brochure – we needed to have a play.
I have 2 of the exclusive stamp sets that you can only find in the brochure, so we gathered together the products listed in the respective bundles and set about reproducing some of the samples.
So if you are a beginner stamper, or if you know someone you think would like to have a go, this brochure is perfect. If you live in the UK, do get in touch and I would be delighted to send you a copy.
These stamp sets are also perfect for using with the children as we head into the long Summer Holidays.
And don’t forget if you place any order of £45 or more before the end of July you will earn a £4.50 coupon to spend in August
And if you are really serious about starting card making, go for the starter kit. During July and August for your £99 investment you can choose £155 worth of goodies of your choice. That would be more than 3 of the bundles from this little brochure. You will then also receive an £8 voucher to spend the following month and you will automatically have a 20% saving on any orders you place whilst you remain active. What better way to build up your supplies to give you a fantastic start with this hobby.
Oh and course, you could join us for the next Love-a-Ducklings Team Lunch!

Lovely blog Helen.
Loved our time at Wellingborough Family Centre. Such great families we worked with, dread to think how old the children we supported are now.
Some of the tots that were in playgroup are now 18+,so I expect a few will have children of their own!
