One of the joys , for me, of stamping, is being able to take a plain piece of card and with the addition of stamps and ink, being able to create something beautiful. This challenge this week really caught my eye and imagination, for that very reason. We were being asked to create our own piece of Designer series paper and then use it to create a card.
My Project.
I thought I would take the Tasteful Touches stamp set and a selection of Neutral colours to create my Designer Series Paper. The finished piece has a feel of vintage upholstery fabric.
I used crumb cake card for my base colour. I first stamped the background scroll pattern using soft suede. The flower was stamped in merry merlot and the colour dragged out with a water painter. The foliage was stamped in mossy meadow and again, the colour was dragged out with the water painter. Finally some early espresso feathers before using the water painter to splatter some mossy meadow ink over the surface.
I wanted to cut some labels from the Tasteful Labels collection and I wanted the larger of the labels in Merry Merlot, so I cut it from the centre of the Merry Merlot mat I had cut for my finished card. The hole would be covered by my exclusive DSP before being mounted onto the Early Espresso card base. No one will ever know that hole is there.
Both the background and the tasteful labels were embossed using the Tasteful Textiles 3D embossing folders. This texture adds to the feeling of upholstery fabric.
I added a swirl of the early espresso faux suede ribbon behind the labels to add another texture. This ribbon as such a lovely feel to it.
All that remained was to add an insert to the card ready to write the message to the recipient.
I loved all the layers and textures on this card.

Wowers! Before I could even read the post I had to save this stunning card to my Pinterest board for later inspiration. I adore the vintage feel that you have created, the difference that they embossing folder is HUGE to the card.

What a STUNNER – ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL Helen. Your colour selections and placement of your stamped images are so perfect. The addition of the texture from the embossing folder just finishes it off perfectly. I do exactly the same thing to my mats… I am always cutting shapes out of them to use on the cards…This is my favourite set too!!!
Thank you for joining us over at The Spot.
