Let’s spotlight on the Heartwarming Hugs suite today. When my team and I were first browsing through the August – December mini catalogue, there were lots of ooohs and aahhs when we saw the Heartwarming Hugs suite. This warm hugs bundle makes gift-giving easy! And when we can’t have real hugs, these are a good substitute.
Heartwarming Hugs Suite
For several years, stampers have made cute treat holders using mini paper coffee cups. Now, at last, Stampin’ Up! has come out with the Warm Hugs Bundle (155145) found on page 10 of the mini catalogue. This bundle makes it so easy to decorate these adorable little cups. You use the dies to create sleeves for the cups and there are dies for cutting out stamped images that fit perfectly on the cup lids.
The Dies
When you first open the dies, you will see that there are two dies for the sleeves and eight thin dies – four each of two patterns; plus two scallop dies and the dies for the tops of the cups. Notice that the thin dies and the scallop dies vary in length. This is because the cup is tapered from the top to the bottom.
To make the wrap, cut two of the wide band from cardstock or designer series paper. If you want to have designs in the band, choose one design and place the design dies inside the band dies and cut. The scallop dies are designed to go on the outside edges of the band. See photo 2.
Apply Tear & Tape or Stampin’ Seal+ to the tabs to join the two pieces into a circle. TIP: to keep the band from slipping down the cup, put a glue dot inside it to hold it in place.
Make a Wrap
If you want to have a template to cover the cup completely with DSP, cut the rim off the top of one of the cups, cut out the bottom of the cup, and cut down the place where it was joined. When tracing this pattern on the DSP, add ¼” to one end for overlapping. Adhere the cut-out DSP to a cup with either Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The liquid glue would give you a little more time to position the DSP around the cup. Start applying the DSP around the top of the cup and then smooth it down the rest of the cup.
Heartwarming Hugs Projects
The Heartwarming Hugs Suite (155106) includes the Warm Hugs Bundle, a second Wrapped in Christmas stamp set, Mini Coffee Carrier, Mini Coffee Cups Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper, Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folders (sized to fit the mini Cut & Emboss Machine), two ribbons and Glitter Star Ornaments…everything you need to embellish the adorable hot drink cups.
One of these samples used the Heartwarming Hugs DSP and images from the Warm Hugs stamp set. The other cup is decorated with World of Good products and would be a great gift for an important man in your life. You don’t have to give these cups just at Christmas. They would be great decorated with Halloween DSP to hold Halloween treats, or know of someone who is under quarantine? Place the cup holder with two cups filled with snacks on their doorstep to cheer them up. The possibilities are limitless.
The greatest thing about this Warm Hugs Bundle is that the dies take all the work out of decorating the mini cups. Order the bundle and a couple packages of cups now and have little gifts ready for any occasion!
