Instructions
A4 Metric | Letter size Inches | |
Basic Black card base | 14.9cm x 21cm Scored at 10.5cm on the long side | 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″ on the long side |
Basic Black | 14.4cm x 10cm | 5 1/4″ x 4″ |
Die Cutting Technique 1 – Pop out Star
Take your card base and fold on the score line. You then need to open the card up and using a pencil and ruler, draw a line down the card at the centre point of the left hand panel (5.25cm /2 1/8″)
Line the star die up on this line and hold it in place with some washi tape.
Laying the card flat on the cutting plate of the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine, line the edge of the top acrylic plate up with the pencil line and so it is covering 3/4 of the card base. The half of the star that you need to cut is the section nearest to the centre fold of the card. Once you have run this through the machine, score along the pencil line from the top of the card to the top of the star and from the bottom of the star to the bottom of the card. You will be able to fold the card back in half and then fold the front panel back on itself. The half die-cut star will pop out. Die cut a slightly smaller stitched star in Basic White and stick on the pop our star.
Die Cut Technique 2- changing the size/shape
To create my moon, I first cut a circle from Silver Foil and then using the same circle die, I ran it back through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss to create a crescent. You could use your circle dies in a similar way to create petal/leaf shapes.
I die cut the word “star” using the Playful Alphabet and laid them in a stitched rectangle. Then, I cut the next size up rectangle as a mat, but it was bigger than I wanted. I was able to move the die across and line it up in the stitching and cut again to make it narrower. Then placing this narrower segment in the die so it was centred between the two long edges, I was able to cut some off the end to make it shorter, but still stitched.
Die Cutting Technique 3 -Inlaid dies.
I die cut three star shapes from the Basic Black mat and 3 identical Basic White stars. This mat was adhered to the card base and I then stuck the white stars in the holes.
Finishing Touches
The finishing touches for this card were:
- some small silver stars that came out of the star flourish die
- The “you’re my” sentiment, which was cut down from the “you’re my person” sentiment in the “Lovely You” stamp set
- White dots drawn all around the edge of the card with a White Chalk marker.
Let’s Hop
