Today’s projects illustrates ways of using texture in card making.
Rhis card was created for the new Festive Friday Challenge that launches today with a theme of International Owl Awareness Day that is happening on August 4th. Both my late Mum and my Younger Daughter both love owls and owl related items. It is perhaps surprising, therefore, that my card features Blue-Tits. But that is the beauty of this challenge. The theme inspires the list of 10 items, but doesn’t have to influence your finished project if you choose not to.
The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

Using Texture in Card Making
The paper featuring Blue Tits is just one of the gorgeous designs in the Rings of Love set. This is one of the Sale-a-Bration items that you can choose when you place a £45 order during July & August, or while stocks last. As well as birds, trees and acorns there are also generic patterns and Christmas Designs. It is one not to be missed.
Details of My Card
I used a few different techniques to add texture to my card. The blade of my scissors was used to distress the edge of the large Night of Navy mat and the the backing mat to the sentiment.
The DSP with the trees on was embossed with the Timber 3D embossing Folder. With the strip of acorn DSP, I tore the edges and inked them with Soft Suede ink and a blending brush.
To give the Night of Navy may behind the Blue Tit DSP some texture, I crumpled it up and flattened it out before sticking the paper in place.
Of course the addition of the Linen Thread and Rustic Adhesive Dots add different textures again to the card front.
I had fun building up all these distressed, crumpled and embossed layers to create this lovely bird themed card “Just for You”.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects
