Today I am sharing with you a Band Technique card using the “Flower of Friendship” Stamp set. This is another project from a fellow demonstrator who is part of my blog/newsletter Co-Op. Joyce Pacer has used this lovely little stamp set, but I haven’t yet got it in my own stash. It also has a fabulous matching punch.

A Band Technique card.

Instructions.

  • 1. Firstly, measure the area where you want your band, both upper and lower lines.  Using a pencil make a light line across the card where the band will be placed.
  • 2. Tear low tack tape in two pieces of around 6 inches/16cm.  Remove much of the stickiness by placing on your clothes.  You want it sticky enough to stay in place while sponging and stamping, but not enough to tear the cardstock when removing the tape.
  • 3. Place the tape above the lightly penciled line on the top and the bottom.
  • 4. Cover the lower part of your card with scrap paper and stamp the image across the card then remove the scrap paper.
  • 5. Sponge in the area using the Soft Suede ink, ensuring that the area closest to the painter’s tape is the darkest
  • 6. Then, using the chalk ink pen, colour the flowers
  • 7.Afterwards, carefully remove the low tack tape.
  • 8. Add two thin strips of ¼” /1cm wide Basic White card to the upper and lower area of the sponging.  This is not necessary unless you want to “pop” the white in the flowers.
  • 9. Stamp your greeting and blend some Soft Suede ink around the edge and then attach to card front. Lastly, add a Basic White card insert.

Top Tip

If your low tack tape does lift up some of the cardstock when removing it, use fine sandpaper and lightly rough up the card stock above the upper and lower band.  It will give it a suede appearance because of the texture.

How can I Help?

I hope you have enjoyed this Band Technique Card with the Flower of Friendship Stamp Set. I also love creating cards where you mask off sections and the monochrome feature of this card gives it extra sophistication. It has certainly inspired me to play.

Stay safe and stay well
