Today’s blog post is all about creating waterfall cards for all occasions.

Waterfall cards for all ocassions using products from Stampin' Up

Waterfall cards are fun to create and a delight to receive, with their flowing movement. Whether they are for a child in your life or to celebrate a special occasion, once you have the hang of these cards, you will be sending them for all sorts of celebrations.

Creating the Waterfall Cards For all Occasions

By creating yourself a template, you will find the basic waterfall mechanism easy to make and you can concentrate on how you are going to decorate and embellish your project.

Here are the metric measurements

And here are the Imperial measurements.

Use these measurements to create yourself a template for the waterfall mechanism out of thick card and then you can reuse it. Use your template to draw the mechanism onto cardstock and add score lines as marked by the dotted lines. Fold your cardstock back and forth along these score lines to ensure the card will flow nicely and then fold along the top score line and have it so the long thin section is lying down the back.

Add tear & tape directly underneath the score lines to stick 2 ½” /6cm square panels onto.

Decorate your panels how you like. Stick the bottom square on first and then work up to the top square

You can also add DSP/stamping to the pull-down panel.
Using brads, attach the side bars to the card front to hold it in place. Punch a hole in the bottom tab on the pull piece and add ribbon/twine.

Christmas Card

A waterfall card for Christmas using the Penguin playmates designer series paper from Stampin' Up

This waterfall card is created with the cute Penguin Playmates Designer Series paper. The card base is Just Jade, and the mechanism is Fresh Freesia. The panels are all decorated with different papers and characters have been cut out from the paper. A piece of Window Sheet is added over the back panel to prevent the cut-out images from catching in the mechanism. It was added by sticking a strip of tear & tape at the top of this back panel, as this section is not seen when the mechanism is attached to the card base. The greetings are from the coordinating Penguin Place stamp set.

Birthday Card

A waterfall card for a happy birthday using the expressions in Ink suite from Stampin' up

This birthday card uses the Expressions in Ink Designer Series paper and coordinating Artistically Inked bundle and Ephemera pack to decorate. These gorgeous papers haven’t needed much additional decoration. There is a stamped panel added to the back piece and the greeting on this comes from the Tasteful Touches stamp set.

Now Get Creative Making Waterfall Cards For all Occasions

There are lots of ways you can get creative and experiment with waterfall cards. You can change the size and shape of your card base. How about having a waterfall card that pulls horizontally rather than vertically. You can also use waterfalls to create stacks of images. This is especially useful for things like ice cream., where you can have a different scoop of ice cream on each waterfall panel. Your panels don’t have to be square either.

As always with our cardmaking – your imagination is the only barrier.

Have fun creating your own waterfall cards.

Meanwhile stay safe and stay well
