My Project Using Background Stamps in Cardmaking

A card using the stacked stone Background stamp and the flowers from Stampin' Up's Nature's Harvest bundle

My project used Stampin’ Up’s Stacked Stone Background Stamp. The flowers came from the Nature’s Harvest stamp and the little bee came from the Garden Wishes stamp set.

You can see all the products I used listed at the bottom of the post with links to my shop.

I inked the background stamp up with White Craft ink and stamped onto the Crumb Cake. My usual method of stamping with this large backgrounds is to lay my stamp face up on the worktop, lay my card on the top and then used my big F block to press down. It is more taking a print from the surface of the stamp, rather than stamping onto the card. The other alternative is to use your Stamparatus. This allows you to apply even pressure all over the stamp surface.

With the craft ink, because it is a pigment ink, I let it dry for a while. I then stamped the floral image and the sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink and the bee in black. I used Watercolor pencils to colour the images.

Stampin' Up's background stamp has been inked with white craft ink and the flowers on top coloured with watercolor pencils.

Before sticking the stamped mat to an Early Espresso card base, I wrapped some of the faux suede ribbon around it and stuck it the back. A separate small piece of the ribbon was used to create the knot on the front. Brushed metallic adhesive backed dots were added.

The Basic White insert had a bee stamped and coloured in the corner.

The bee from Stampin' Up's Garden Wishes stamp set is used both inside and out on this card featuring background stamps.
