I love to hear stories about things. To get to know the reason why we do things. To hear explanations about terminology we use. I guess I cant be alone in this.
As I look back over the 17 or so years I have been card making, I have picked up a few tips, stories, explanations along the way and I wanted to share them in a back to basics series.
Over the last couple of years I have toyed with a few different ideas of ways I could offer tutorials and support to beginner card makers, or those who just wanted to grow in confidence. Particularly I wanted to help those people I meet regularly who tell me they can’t stamp.
It was with this in mind that I created my Duckie Stamping Starters Facebook group about 12 months ago. But then it just sat unpopulated as life got in the way. I am now going to change that. If you would like to check it out, you can find it here.
I couple of weeks ago I added an introductory video to the group and today I went Live with the first of my Back to Basic sessions.
The subject for this week was paper.
Is paper just paper?
We talked about
- weight of paper/cardstock
- different types of paper/cardstock
- which do you need for which job
- scoring and folding cardstock
If you would like to see the video you can watch it here, as I have added it to my You Tube library
I would love to hear what people think. What else would you like to hear about? And please share this video and group with anyone you know that is starting out in this wonderful hobby of ours.
Of course if all this talk of paper has got you itching to get your hands on some of our stunning Designer Series paper, don’t miss out on the Buy 3 get 4th Free offer.
