World Card Sending Week

Following on from Saturday’s World Card Making Day, Stampin’ Up have designated this week as World Card Sending Week. We are all being encouraged to send out those beautiful cards.

Confession time – I am hopeless at sending card. Every New Year it is my resolution to send more cards. I know the power of receiving a card, especially a hand crafted card. So why, oh why, am I so bad at popping them in the post. Let’s face it, it certainly isn’t because I don’t have any! I have hundreds.

So I am certainly going to take to the challenge to make a card, send a card this week. #worldcardsendingweek.

Another challenge I am going to rise to this week is joining in with Kylie Bertucci’s International Stampin’ Up! Blog Highlights.

The card I have produced is one I shall be sending out this week to a fellow demonstrator. We had a chat via messenger over the weekend because we have been paired up in a Demonstrator send a card challenge. She was actually picked to send me a card, but having listened to her story, I felt strongly I wanted to send her a card of encouragement as she lost both her parents last year within a short space of time.

With her in mind I went straight to the beautiful “Artfully Aware” stamp set, which was designed with mutual support and encouragement in mind.

I used some of the dies from the coordinating “Support Ribbons” set and circles from the Stitched shapes dies. I decided to team this up with some Pretty Peacock and Mint Macaron papers from the “Come to Gather” Designer Series Paper. There are some beautiful papers in this collection. I then reached for my Stampin’ Blends and picked out the Pretty Peacock duo, the Mint Macaron duo as well as Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and So Saffron for hair colours and Light Petal Pink and Ivory for the skin tones.

Once I had coloured in my image, it was just a case of building the card, adding some Mint Macaron ribbon and the sentiment “You’ve got my support”

I love the colours in this card and I think the artist who created the line drawings managed to capture so much love and empathy in the images.
