For today’s project I have been creating coloured heat embossed images using my Stamparatus and Clear Embossing powder.
This blog is just one of a collection of blog posts you will find in the hop that is illustrating different ideas using heat embossing. The Technique Tuesday hop is just one of a variety of hops throughout the month that are bought to you be the Crafty Collaborations community of Stampin’ Up demonstrators from around the world.
This particular technique is the one that got me hooked on card making and I know many others were attracted by the magic of the dull powder that turns to shiny at the flick of the on switch on your heat embossing tool.
Creating Coloured Heat Embossed Images
This is my first blog post of the New Year and I decided to use the quirky ” Thanks a Bunch” stamp set, which is just one of the fabulous Sale-a-Bration products that will be launching in 5th January.
The Hand-Drawn Dots background stamp set is another new product, this time from the January-April mini catalogue. This also launches on 5th January.
Creating the Card
The stamp set features some 2 step stamping to build up detail on these fun carrots. I used my Stamparatus to line up the images and also to add versamark over the top. This picture captures the shine, not just from the stamped carrots, but also from the dotty background.
To create the card, I first mounted the large background stamp in the stamparatus and stamped onto a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock with Versamark. I then heat embossed the dots with clear embossing powder. The stamparatus is so useful to stamp these large background images. You are able to press down all over the large surface area of the stamp. This textured mat was stuck to a tent fold card base.
I then stamped carrots onto a stitched rectangle. First, I stamped the solid background carrot in the centre using Pumpkin Pie ink. Then I lined up the detail stamp and picking it up on anther plate, I stamped this over the top, again with Pumpkin Pie.
I turned this plate over and then lined up the leaves, picked the stamp up and used Old Olive ink. Leaving all the stamps in place, I cleaned the solid carrot image and leaf image, inked them up with versamark and then over stamped the image on my stitched rectangle. This enabled me to add clear embossing powder and heat it to create a shiny carrot.
I then turned the stitched rectangle and positioned to repeat the process for the second and then third carrots.
The stitched rectangle was added to a larger Old Olive stitched rectangle and some Linen Thread was tied around it. This was stuck to the card base. The sentiment was stamped in Old Olive and added to the card front with dimensionals. Some Faux Sea Glass pieces were added at the base of the carrots.
The inside of the card had a small bunch of carrots stamped in the corner.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects
