For today’s blog post I have been creating a gift pocket and a bookmark.
This project is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating Back to School.
We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.
The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!
My project used: yellow, black, white, neutral embellishments, good luck
Creating a Gift Pocket and Bookmark
This little project is created with some Daffodil Delight DSP from the Brights Colour pack. The mages were stamped using the Queen Bee stamp set. Bees were the obvious choice for yellow and black.
You can see a full list of the products I have used at the end of the post, including links to my online shop.
The little pocket is created by folding a 6″ square of paper in half diagonally. You then bring the left hand point across to meet the right hand edge, the right hand edge across to the left hand edge and then fold one of the points of paper down. It is not called a nappy fold for nothing!
Decorating the Pocket
To decorate the pocket, I punched a 2″ circle from Basic White and a 2 3/8″ circle from Basic Black. The script image was stamped onto the white circle with memento ink before the two circles stuck together.
A bee was then stamped onto Basic White card in Memento ink and Daffodil Delight ink was blended over the top and the little heart coloured with a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend. the bee was cut out.
The best of luck sentiment was stamped in Memento ink onto Basic White card and this was also cut out.
A piece of White frayed Grosgrain ribbon was frayed at each end and coloured on the tips with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend.
The ribbon, bee and sentiment were then all layered up onto the circle and stuck to the pocket. Some of the neutral swirled embellishments were added to the front.
The Bookmark
The bookmark that was tucked inside the pocket was created by stamping the script and small bee onto some Basic White card and then using a blending brush to add daffodil Delight ink around the edge. this was then mounted onto Basic Black card.
For the reverse, letters were cut with the Mini Alphabet dies from Daffodil Delight cardstock .
A hole was punched in the top of the bookmark, some frayed ribbon threaded through and frayed on both ends and coloured with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend. A piece of black twine was tied around it to secure it.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects’
