Shaped Butterfly Card

For today’s post I am sharing a shaped butterfly card.

This card is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

My project used: gold, metallic thread, shaped card, watercolor, rainbow

There is an fabulous die in the Beautiful Butterfly Bundle that dies cuts these little shaped butterfly cards. It works simply by lining the top of the die with the folded edge of your cardstock. The base of this card has been cut in Balmy Blue and I have used the dotty image from the stamp set to add some detail around the edge of the wings.

The rainbow section of the butterfly was die cut from Fluid 100 watercolor paper. I used my watercolor pencils in rainbow colours to colour up the butterfly shape. I then spritzed it with water to allow the colours to bleed together. Once it was dry, I placed it in the Hybrid Embossing folder to add some detail.

Both the detailed overlay on the butterfly and the body section were die cut from Basic Black.

Building The Card

The watercolor butterfly was added to the card base with dimensionals and I just used some adhesive along the centre of the detailed black butterfly to add it.

For the “hello” sentiment, I stamped in Versamark ink onto Basic Black card and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. This sentiment was fussy cut and added, along with a double bow of twisted gold thread, using glue dots. Some gold adhesive-backed metallic gems.

Beautiful Butterfly Bundle

This bundle has so much to offer. As well as gorgeous stamps, there are all the clever dies, including the die that will work in combination with the Hybrid Embossing Folder.

I held a technique class last week and we were exploring the Hybrid Embossing folders, so of course we had a play with this bundle.
