For today’s blog post I am sharing two projects that demonstrate using sponged ink in cardmaking.

Welcome to this month’s Crafty Challenge Hop. This Hop is brought to you be members of the Crafty Collaborations Community. We are a group of demonstrators who like to take part in the diversity of hops that the group put on. This one features a different challenge each month.

This month’s challenge is a dice challenge.

Using Sponged Ink in Cardmaking

The sponging element was the place I started my planning for these cards and different ways I could incorporate it. We don’t sell sponges anymore, but we have both sponge daubers and blending brushes and I decided to use my blending brushes in these projects as I think they give the best results for the techniques I chose.

I then picked two different bundles to create my two cards.

You can see a full list of the products I have used at the end of the post, including links to my online shop.

Purple Flowers

For this standard horizontal card I chose the Thankful Garden Bundle and the coordinating masks. I love how you can use the masks to add colour to your stamped flowers.

Regal colours were called for in the challenge, so I chose to use Gorgeous Grape and Old Olive for my flower as well as the card base and mat. I have also added some Old Olive die cut leaves. The Basic White rectangle has been die cut using one of the fabulous dies from the Textured Notes set.

The sentiment comes from the Thankful Garden set and the final element was ticked off by adding some Antique Pearls.

Linen Thread bow may not have been part of the challenge, but I added it in anyway.

Herbs Galore

For this second card, I chose to use the Grow With Love bundle. As well as all the herbs and the sentiments, there is a die that enables you to create a seed packet. I stuck with a card for this project, but I did make use of the die cut label.

My starting point was stamping the herbs randomly over the background in different greens from the Regals collection, plus Pretty Peacock. I then used my blending brush to add Old Olive and Pretty Peacock ink around the edges of the background.

The sentiment was stamped onto the label and some second generation Old Olive mint leaves were stamped in the background. The Antique Pearls on this card were coloured with a Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend. I sneaked some more Linen Thread in, but this Garden Green Linen Thread is part of the Natural Tones trio that is now on Last Chance.

I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects
