Using White Pigment Ink To Create A Soft Background

For today’s post I have been using whiter pigment ink to create a soft background.

This card is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating Mother Ocean Day.

We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

Using White Pigment Ink To Create A Soft Background

This card actually started life in one of my recent “Wow Backgrounds” Technique Classes, where we explored using White Craft Ink — a pigment ink — to create beautiful, soft effects. I used it here over a Blueberry Bushel background to give that dreamy, floaty underwater feel.

To add even more texture, I splattered watered-down White Craft Ink across the surface, which creates the look of bubbles or sea spray. It’s such a simple technique but incredibly effective.

The focal point features stamped and die-cut shells from the Shell Collection Stamp Set, layered in Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue and with Lost Lagoon starfish for contrast. This stamp set is currently on the Last Chance list and reduced in price, so if it’s been on your wishlist, now is a great time to grab it!

The sentiment, “Wishing you good things,” is heat embossed onto a Blueberry Bushel banner and finished with a touch of Linen Thread for a subtle nautical feel. A few embellishments add a hint of sparkle, like light dancing on water.

I love how calming and atmospheric this card feels — a little glimpse of the ocean captured in paper.
