Repeat Stamping to Create a Background

For today’s post I have used the Summer Happiness Bundle and repeat stamping o create a background

This card is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating World Photography Day.

We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

Repeat Stamping to Create a Background

I began by using the camera image from the Summer Happiness stamp set. I repeatedly stamped it in black ink across a piece of Basic White card to create my own patterned background.

I then matted the stamped panel onto Basic Black card. Before adhering the layers together, however, I gutted the centre of the black mat. This is such a useful way to save cardstock, particularly when only the narrow border will be visible!

Even better, the piece I removed from the centre was the perfect size to use to create thr bold black frame on the front of my card. I do love it when nothing goes to waste.

A Little Pop of Colour

For the focal point, I stamped the camera image again, but this time I coloured it using Lemon Lime Twist and Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Blends.

The “Sending Happy Thoughts” sentiment comes from the Opulent Oasis stamp set. I stamped both the sentiment and camera onto Basic White card before positioning the panel behind my handmade black frame.

Some black twine wrapped around the framed panel adds a little texture and helps draw the eye towards the main image. I tied the twine into a simple bow and then attached the whole panel to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To complete the card, I added a few blue embellishments from the Garden Epoxy Dots. They echo the Blueberry Bushel colouring beautifully and add just the right splash of colour to the black-and-white background.

Turn the Frame into a Photo Feature

Another lovely way to use this design would be to place a small photograph behind the black frame instead of the stamped sentiment panel.

The repeat-stamped camera background would make this perfect for sending a favourite photograph to a friend or family member. It could also be adapted for a birthday, holiday memory, new baby photograph or special family occasion.

I have used the Summer Happiness images recently in a scrapbooking kit too, and this is one of the layouts. It is a really useful set for both cardmaking and memory keeping.
