Something a bit different today, as I am going to share a little of what it means to me being a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator.
During the course of my day yesterday I took some photographs of the jobs I was doing in my role as a full-time Demonstrator. Everyone of the 57,000 plus Demonstrators across the world will use their membership of the Stampin’ Up family in different ways. Each way is valued and unique.
Some may simply enjoy the discount on the personal purchases for their own crafting enjoyment.
Others may perhaps buy products to create cards and gifts that they sell, or use to fundraise.
Some will have a small group of crafty friends that share their crafting together and who buy a few products from them.
Some will run a small business to supplement their income alongside a full-time job.
Then there are demonstrators like me who spend all their working day running their unique small business. Even then no 2 businesses will look the same and the activities that make up their days will be different.
So I thought I would share a snapshot with you of what one day looked like in the week just gone.
A snapshot of Being a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator For Me
Photograph Editing
Whilst I enjoyed my first cup of tea of the day, I fired up my laptop and edited some photographs. I may need to crop them, improve the light and colour and add a watermark. I also need to make sure they are the right size and shape for the purpose I want to use them for. They are then downloaded and ready to use.
Orders
There are often orders to excitedly open and check. Today it was some products for a fun upcoming class. I am always on the look out for ideas for new classes I can run and projects I can share. This can often involve some fairly random google searches, as I look for just the thing I want!
My Team
My team of Love-a-Ducklings is relatively small, but we expand a little each year. Although they have never all met up in person, they are a great bunch who share their crafting and their news and support each other.
They are very important to me and i am constantly looking to improve the ways in which I can best support them .
I try each week to go live on the Team Facebook page to highlight any news and updates from Stampin’ Up! and any team news. It is important that they know of any upcoming sales and special offers that they can benefit from as well as more business focused initiatives. I never assume that people won’t be interested, but there is also never any expectation or pressure from me. We are, after all, crafters at heart first. The difference is in how you want to share your passion – from sending cards, to teaching, selling products and building a team.
My Blog
You are here on my blog now, so it goes without saying that adding content and maintaining my blog and website play an important part in my working week.
Those pictures that I edited first thing in the morning are now a published blog post. As well as writing and curating the post, I then also make sure there are links on Pinterest and schedule other Social media posts on the back of it.
Anyone who subscribes to my Blog will receive an email around lunchtime UK time with links to any posts published in the previous 24 hour period. A great way to keep up with all my content.
Placing Orders
As I said earlier, we are all crafters at heart, so I still get excited about new products. The new Paper Pumpkin – Hope Box is now available to order, so of course I NEED one of those.
I am also needing to constantly stock up on cardstock, adhesive and ribbons, as well as purchasing stamp sets and dies, punches, to enable me to run classes and share projects on blog posts and in videos. Of course some customers who live locally will also ask me to add products to my order and collect them from me.
The Tidy Up Fairy
I wish i had a tidy up fairy, but I don’t. So when the scraps of papers and backs from the dimensionals get too much, I do have to get the brush out and sweep them up. I also need to periodically sort and put away the paper scraps that I want to keep and tidy away the inks, stamps, dies and tools that have piled up while I am creating.
I am currently in the middle of rearranging and reorganising my craft room, so there is quite a bit of cleaning up going on. All part of the ongoing quest to create a productive space.
Creating
Of course a day in the life of a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator wouldn’t be complete without some crafting. I am here creating a project ready for the new Festive Friday Challenge that begins later this week. As well as challenges, I also design my class projects, my blog projects and projects for Lives and pre-recorded videos. So many opportunities to play with stamps, ink and paper. Who wouldn’t love this job!
And The Rest
This is really just a snapshot of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and what that looks like for me. No two days are ever the same. There are so many other jobs I do, flitting between my laptop and my craft table:
- Cutting for Classes
- Writing Tutorials
- Running Classes
- Sending Parcels
- Creating Graphics
- Advertising
- Social Media Posts
- Running Lives
- Creating Videos
- Networking with Other demonstrators
- Planning
- Admin
I am never bored.
How Can I help?
Being here to help you on your crafty journey is what my job is all about. To be able to share what I love with others, through teaching, inspiring and equipping them to create for themselves is the greatest joy in my job.
If I can help you in any way, whether in assisting you in purchasing supplies, answering crafty questions or welcoming you in to my team, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Meanwhile Stay Safe and Stay Well
