In today’s project I am spotlighting creating an emboss resist background.
This card is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating Alzheimer’s Awareness month.
We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.
The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

Forget Me Nots
I love forget me nots, so when they appeared on the Inspo list for this latest challenge, I knew I wanted to create some.
I used dies from the Flowers of Beauty bundle to create the flowers, a stamp from the same bundle for the emboss resist panel and sentiments from the Sentimental Park stamp set.
The stamp and die bundles have an additional 10% off the price during the month of June, so be sure to stock up on your favourites.
You can see a full list of the products I have used at the end of the post, including links to my online shop.
Creating An Emboss Resist Background
I picked this little sprig of forget me nots from one of the plants that has self seeded between my slabs on the patio. I read somewhere recently that the inside of the flower is yellow, until the bees have visited and taken the pollen and then it is white. I’m not sure how true that is.
I wanted a decorated panel to sit my paper sprig of forget me nots on, so I decided to take my inspiration from the “emboss resist” option on the Inspo List. The small leaf image from the Flowers of Beauty Stamp set was used to stamp all over a panel of Basic White card from Versamark. I then sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and heated. Then. taking a Blending Brush, I added Boho Blue ink all over the panel of card. The leaves popped from the background, because the embossing repels the ink.
Using the strip die of small flowers from the Flowers of Beauty die set, I cut 8 small Boho Blue flowers. I felt this was the current colour that was closest to the natural flowers. To create the yellow centres, I coloured some iridescent pearls with a Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend. The leaves were die cut in Garden Green.
The circle the sprig of flowers are arranged on, was punched using the 2 3/8″ circle punch. A swirl of the white Diagonal Trim was added to the back of the punched circle.
A basic White tent fold card base was used.
The sentiment was stamped in Boho blue ink onto Basic White card and cut out. The “thinking of” section was added to the circle with dimensionals. Finally the “You” was shaped on the end and stuck flat with multipurpose glue.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects’
