Well yesterday was one of those unusual days when I didn’t craft a thing. I did however create a new opportunity.
A Golden Opportunity
I spent the morning meeting with Meg and her Mum from the Golden Years Charity. This is a local Wellingborough charity that supports people in their later life and Meg is the founder, the inspiration and the driving force behind it. Spend some time talking with her and you can’t fail to be caught up with her enthusiasm and drive. Her passion is to enable older people to access and take part in the social and physical activities that interest them, so ensuring their physical and mental well-being. You can see some of their exciting adventures on their website here.
The group has just achieved its charity status and is about to move on to a new stage in their growth. A few days ago they posted a status asking if anyone had any ideas for partnership working to raise fund for them. I had been along to one of their sessions in the past to create Christmas Cards, so I already had a huge respect for the work the charity does and a soft spot for the clients.
So what were we planning?
A 24 hour Craftathon. This will run from 6pm on November 1st until 6pm on November 2nd. We have lots of fun things planned during that period. There will be opportunities to sponsor us, to come along and craft with us, eat with us, stay awake with us. Look out over the upcoming weeks for a Just Giving page and other opportunities to support us and get involved. Of course also get the date in tour diary.
We are all excited at the possibilities to raise money for the Charity; to raise awareness of the work they do and to also shine a spotlight on “Love-a-Duckie” and all the opportunities that come from the Lily Pad.
We look forward to your support
Helen xx
What a fantastic idea – and raising funds plus awareness of such an amazing charity. Anything I can do before hand let me know. A pity I’m away as it sounds fun, crazy, but fun. X
