My Project for A Card Making Challenge
For this hop I thought I would share a card I have created to celebrate the end of another Chopped Challenge. Every month, a new Chopped Challenge is issued. All the participants are sent a kit of products and some of all of them must be used on the front of the finished project. Each participant takes a photograph of their finished project and they are placed into a gallery for everyone to vote for their favourite. The winner gets free entry the next month and also get to choose the colours for an upcoming challenge. The rules allow for the use of any other current Stampin’ Up! product.
In February, each kit contained:
- Gorgeous Grape cardstock (1/2 sheet)
- Fresh Freesia cardstock (1/2 sheet)
- Highland Heather pieces punched from the Bough Punch
- 4″ x 4″ piece of Flowering Fields DSP
- 6″ Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon
- Iridescent Rhinestones
All of the entries are now in, so I thought I would have a play with the kit and create a card.
Card Measurements
A4 metric | Imperial letter Size | |
Fresh Freesia Card Base | 14.9cm x 21cm Scored at 10.5cm on the long side | 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″ on the long side |
Gorgeous Grape | 14.4cm x 10cm | 5 1/4″ x 4“ |
Designer Series Paper | 9.5cm x 10cm | 3 3/4″ x 4″ |
Instructions
- Fold the card base along the score line.
- Punch a scalloped heart from the bottom half of the Gorgeous Grape mat and a plain heart from some Highland Heather cardstock.
- Cut a 2cm/ 3/4″ strip from the top of the Designer Series Paper and stick both pieces of Designer Series paper onto the Gorgeous Grape cardstock, the bottom piece with the floral pattern upwards and the top piece the reverse. Wrap the ribbon around the cardstock between the two papers and stick to the back. Trim off the small piece of excess ribbon to use as a flag.
- Stick the Gorgeous Grape cardstock to the card base. Stamp some crosses from the Flowering Tulips stamps set along the top in Gorgeous Grape ink.
- Stick the two punched hearts together, add the flag of ribbon to the underside with some tear & tape and stick to the card front with dimensionals.
- Stick the punched bough pieces under the top of the heart.
- Stamp tulips onto some Basic White cardstock with Gorgeous Grape and Fresh Freesia ink and die cut.
- Die cut some leaves from Soft Succulent cardstock and ink the ends with Evening Evergreen ink.
- Arrange these pieces on the punched hearts, raising the top tulip up with dimensionals.
- Stamp the greeting on Basic White cardstock with Gorgeous Grape ink and cut it apart. Add the pieces to the card front.
- Finish with some Iridescent gems.
The Flowering Fields suite that this bundle and paper comes from is so pretty and even the simplest card is beautiful.
