For my blog post today I am bringing you a colour challenge bird card.

it is the time of the month when we participate in the Crafty Collaboration’s Challenge Blog Hop and this month it is a colour challenge.

The colours we have been given to inspire our project are Bermuda Bay, Merry Merlot and Cajun Craze. They are not 3 colours you would necessarily pick up as an obvious combination, but then this is a challenge!

A Colour Challenge Bird Card

I decided to bring out the Birds & Branches stamp set and coordinating dies for my project. Although I’m sure birds aren’t generally sitting on nests when the leaves turn russet, we are allowed creative licence.

You can see all the products I used in my card listed at the end of the post with links to my shop.

Instructions

  • Fold the card base along the score line. Stick the Bermuda Bay layer to the card base.
  • On an oddment of Basic White cardstock I stamped the two step birds, using Bermuda Bay for the solid bottom layer and Cajun Craze, which I first stamped off, for the top layer. The nest was stamped in Cajun Craze. These images were then die cut with the coordinating dies.
  • Using a Blending Brush, I softly sponged ink over the nest to fill in the white.
  • On the Basic White layer of card, i stamped some branches in Cajun Craze – 2 from the left hand edge and a partial branch in the top right. I then added both ist and second generation leaves in Merry Merlot.
  • The sentiment was taken from the Sale-a-Bration Host set, In Your Words. I stamped it in Bermuda Bay ink.
  • This stamped layer was then added to the card base. The nest was attached with dimensionals and the two birds were stuck in it, one with liquid adhesive, the other with dimensionals.
  • I tied a length of linen thread around the spine and finished with a bow. Finally, I added some Brushed Metallic dots.
  • For the card insert I stamped another partial branch and leaves, before sticking it on the inside of the card.
