For this Blog Post, I have created a Gift Bag from patterned Paper
I chose the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-Bration offering to focus on.
A Gift Bag From Patterned Paper
You will a list of all the products I have used, with links to my online store at the end of this post.
One of the benefits of creating your own bags, is the ability to size them according to the gift you are giving. And when the beautiful paper is a free gift, it is even better. The Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper pack is one of the items you can earn with a £45 order up until the end of September. As well as the classic plaids, stripes and snowflakes, one of the papers has images that you can punch out with the Deer Builder Punch from the Peaceful Deer bundle that is available in the mini catalogue.
To add a touch of glitz to my bag, i have used another Sale-a-Bration item. The Be dazzling 6″ x 6″ speciality paper is like a million tiny sequins squeezed onto a sheet of paper. It is quite a thick card, but the shine is,a as its name suggests. dazzling. This is another item you can choose as your free item with a £45 order.
Instructions
For my bag, I used a 10″ x 11.5″ piece of DSP. It was scored at 1 1/2″ / 5 1/2″ / 7″ / 11″ on the long side. On the short side, ensuring I kept the pattern the right way I scored 1″ down from the top edge and 1 1/2″ up from the bottom edge.
The top edge was folded over and stuck down to create the coordinating trim on the top edge. This also helps to strengthen the bag. For the bottom edge, I cut up the score lines to create the flaps for the bottom of the bag. The 1/2″ flap on this bottom section was cut away. I also tapered the edges slightly on the two 1 1/” tabs.
After sticking the bag together, I squeezed in the sides and then punched 2 holes in the top. I used the Fine Art Gold Ribbon to thread through the holes, as it coordinated quite well with the Be Dazzling paper.
To decorate the bag, I punched out 2 trees from the glitzy paper. I then stamped and punched out 2 plaid trees and 1 plain one. I used Garden Green cardstock and Evening Evergreen ink. The “North Pole Delivery” sentiment seemed quite appropriate for a festive gift bag. I also added a strip of the Be Dazzling paper under the sentiment strip.
After cutting a tag from the sparkly paper, I added 2 trees to the tag. The other 3 trees were added to the bag front. I used the ribbon at the top of the bag to hold my tag in place. This card very usefully has a plain white back. That will be perfect for writing your message to the gift recipient.
The sequins were taken from the Expressions in Ink ephemera pack.
