This week I have been getting creative with this lovely bundle of bees. Inspiration for my Facebook Lives has come, not just from the mini catalogue, but also from three different challenges.

Monday

When I was browsing the catalogue, this sample with its combination of Pretty Peacock and Mint Macaron really caught my eye. So we had to re-create it in Monday’s video. The stitched rectangle background has tone-on-tone stamping. I used the stamparatus so I could ink the flower stamp up with sponge daubers. The bees were stamped using Saddle Brown Stazon ink, which I stamped off first. I also used the brown Stazon to colour the linen thread

Thursday

On Thursday’s Live, I used two different challenges to create the two cards.

Challenge 1

This sketch challenge struck me because of the circle element in it. I immediately thought about creating a wreath of the small bees, circling round in flight. It was created using a 3″ square of Whisper White and my Stamparatus. Some Pineapple Punch ink was added with a sponge dauber. It won’t be long before we have to say goodbye to this In-Colour. This wreath was cut out with the largest stitched circle and was given a black scalloped circle mat.

I used a Pineapple Punch card base, with a black mat and then a mat of whisper white card, ehich had been embossed with the layering leaves 3D folder. The sentiment was cut using the sweetly stitched dies and a flash of black card was added across the back of it,

After the Live had finished, I added some finishing touches to the card of a faux stitched border and a bow from black twine.

Challenge 2

The second card featured some heat embossing – the theme for the Paper Player’s challenge this week.

I used the watercolour wash effect stamp from the Love What You Do stamp set on my Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed it in gold. A honeycome of gold glimmer paper was added on top of this. I then took a detailed die cut bee in whisper white and pressed it into the Versamark, covered in gold embossing powder and heated it. Thus gave a quite “shabby” effect to the bee. I backed this with the large solid bee shape die cut in black. I added the bee to the background with dimensionals, having first curled the wings.

All that was left was a simple “Thank You” greeting and some of the hexagons, which are a by-product of die cutting the honeycomb. This whisper white cardstock then had a black mat added , before attaching it to a notecard. Simple, but elegant and eye catching.

Both of these challenge cards can be seen on this video of Thursday’s live:

There’s More

There was a third challenge I wanted to play along with with my lovely bees this week, to showcase their versatility and potential. The Tic Tac Toe challenge.

Now did I go Punch, Pastels and Insects, or Insects, Flowers and Gingham. _ I’ll let you decide.

The colours were soft Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron. The paper was from the In Color 6″x6″ paper stack and the punch was the new “Label me Lovely” Punch. Together they created a pretty little card for a sweet friend.

My craft desk has just been buzzing this week with this product of the week,

I hope you have been inspired by these projects to use this Honey Bee bundle in your crafting.
