At a time when the UK sees its nation in mourning, I decided to create this Accordion Fold Sympathy Card.

This is my project for the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop, which this time has a theme of Blogger’s Choice. We were free to pick anything from the Annual Catalogue and I chose the Sending Smiles Bundle.

Accordion Fold Sympathy Card

The base of this card was created by taking a strip of Designer Series Paper from the Perfectly Pencilled pack and cut it to measure 14.4cm x 30cm /5 1/4″ x 12″.

The paper is then scored at 5cm, 10cm, 15cm and 20cm / 2″, 4″. 6″ and 8″.

This accordion folded paper is then attached to a Basic Black card base measuring 14.9cm x 10.5cm. or 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″

The two front panels were cut using the Stitched Rectangles. A 13.9cm x 9.5cm / 5″ x 3 3/4″ was cut from Basic White for the back.

I then used the Sending Smiles stamps and dies to add detail to each of the panels and I also chose soft colours. as I was creating a sympathy card. The colours I used were Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Highland Heather and Pear Pizzazz.

The front panel features a bouquet of stamped and die cut flowers and the other two mats were stamped.

The “sending” was die cut from Basic Black and “Comfort and Strength” was stamped on the inside panel.

The combination of the Black and White Designer Series Paper and the soft colours of the flowers worked well together to create a pretty card that also reflects the sadness involved whenever we need to express our sympathy.
