For today’s project I have been adding splatters to cards.
This card is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating Cinco de Mayo, which is happening on May 5th.
We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.
The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!
My project used: orange, green, enamel dots, dry embossing.
Adding Splatters To Cards
This card used the Filled With Happiness stamp set from Stampin’ Up! and the coordinating Modern Oval punch. This photopolymer stamp set is a combination of sentiments and small images. Some of the sentiments are designed to curve around the outside edge of the oval punched centre. We are going to be saying goodbye to the stamp set very soon. It is in the Last Chance products and has a discount. happily the very useful Modern Oval punch is carrying over the the new catalogue.
Creating The Card
I chose the image on the card because I thought it would fit perfectly with the orange and green colours in the Inspo List.
I used a Pumpkin Pie card base and the Lemon Lime Twist layer was embossed with the Floral 3D embossing folder from the trio of Basics Embossing Folders that can be found in the online store. These embossing folders are a must have staple item.
I used a scalloped rectangle from the Scalloped Contour dies. This was a bit of a last hoorah for this die set, as it too is retiring and has already sold out in the European market.
The image was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento and then the centre image was punched out with the Modern Oval Punch. Sticking to the colour of the cardstock, I used Pumpkin Pie and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Blends to colour the image, with the addition of a little bit of Lemon Lolly for the blossom.
I stuck the scalloped rectangle (with the hole in the middle) to the embossed mat. Then using yet another retiring item, I added some lemon Lime Twist ribbon around the mat, before adding the oval back over the top with dimensionals.
This was all added to the card base and then the all important splatters were added by taking the brush end of my Lemon Lime twist Stampin’ Blend and flicking it against the side of the lid. The card was finished by adding a bow of the ribbon with a glue dot and finally colouring some White Classic matte dots with the Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects’
