It is time to join in again with Kylie’s Monthly International Blog Highlights and create a card which shows appreciation of someone.

I scanned my collection of stamp sets, wanting to use something that hadn’t seen ink for a while. As my stamps are stored alphabetically it didn’t take long for my eye to rest upon “Accented Blooms”. This clever little stamp set includes a nice big thank you, so fitted beautifully within the remit.

My Card

For my card I wanted to combine some white embossing with bright water colouring. The large floral stamp was inked up with Versamark, stamped onto shimmery white card stock and then white embossing powder was added and heated. I used balmy blue ink for the watercolour wash sky. The flowers were painted in Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape and Pumpkin Pie. I used Pear pizzazz and Old Olive to paint the leaves.

The next decision was what colour to stamp this clever greeting stamp with its negative space effect. My first attempt was using white embossing on black card, but that didn’t work for this project. Rest assured it didn’t go to waste – more of that later. Instead I stamped in black onto whisper white card. To ensure I got a good strong colour, I used my Stamparatus and repeatedly inked and stamped the image 3 times. It was then punched out with the tag punch and layered over the flowers with dimensionals.

I used a whisper white side opening card base for this card. Before sticking my water coloured card front to my card base, I gave it a black mat and wrapped some of the black glitter ribbon around the two layers. Once the card was all stuck together, I added a bow and some sequins.

Bonus Card

So I was left with a white embossed greeting on black card. What to do?

I just added some simple stamping and some black and white layers. Pop on a white twine bow and a couple of sequins and we have a quick and easy second card.
