In today’s blog post I am sharing with you a card featuring the Black Ice Technique using Stippled Roses, a stamp set from Stampin’ Up!
Stamp Around UK Video Hop
On the 1st of each month a Video Hop launces over on You Tube featuring a selection of UK Demonstrators. I am delighted to be a part of this talented team.
This month the theme is Black & Gold. I have used gold foil and the Stippled Roses Cling Stamp from Stampin’ Up! to create my project.

Black Ice Technique Using Stippled Roses
This technique is one my customers periodically request that we return to and it fitted the Black & Gold theme beautifully. With the combination of foil, Stazon ink and embossing powder I have created this frosty finish to the card topper.
The Stazon creates the streaky distressed background and clear embossing powder is used to create the effect of icy droplets on the surface.
The sizes of the cardstock are:
- Basic Black Card Base: 25cm x 12.5cm / 10″ x 5″
- Gold Foil 12cm x 12cm / 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ – gut at 1cm from each edge (or 3/8″ for imperial)
- Basic Black mat: 10.5cm x 10.5cm / 4 1/4″

More Stippled Roses Inspiration
These projects were both created back when we were playing with the Softly Stippled DSP. which was a Sale-a-Bration product., But these cards could be easily reproduced using other papers. The large image in the Stippled Roses stamp set lends itself so well to large focal images on cards like this fancy fold.
And who says you have to stick to traditional colours.
