In this blog post I want to introduce you to the idea of getting cardmaking inspiration from dice. This isn’t an idea that is new to me, but I certainly get asked about the concept.

Creating a Thinking of You Card with Simply Elegant Papers from Stampin' Up using dice as inspiration

Quite a few months ago I heard a fellow demonstrator talking about using dice in a similar way to using challenges like tic tac toes and the Festive Friday inspo list. When you roll the dice you are given a randomly selected list of elements that you then need to incorporate into your design. For the example above, I had Fussy cut; Thinking of You; Metallics; Neutral; Water Colour and 4″ x 4″. this was part of a “Crafting By Chance” video I did a couple of months ago. You can watch it here.

I used the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series paper, because that gave me both metallics and Neutral colours. The flowers and leaves were fussy cut from one of the sheets. Further metallic elements were added with the Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots and some Gold Simply Elegant Twine. The die cut label was water coloured with a Basic Gray watercolour wash. The sentiment on this 4″ square card came from the Quiet Meadow stamp set.

This is another project I created with this concept on a You Tube video. A very different outcome.

How Can I Help?

Getting cardmaking inspiration from dice to create a thinking of you card with Stampin' Up! products

What do you think of this idea and are you going to have a go. if you don’t have dice, you could always write on slips of paper. You also don’t need to have as many dice if you would like to simplify it.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can help with your purchases, or if you have a crafty question.

Meanwhile stay safe and stay well
