For this month’s Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop I have been cardmaking with scraps of patterned paper.
The theme for this month’s blog hop was simply “Scraps.” I teamed my oddments of Simply Elegant Speciality Designer Series Paper and then added some Gilded Leafing.
Cardmaking with Scraps of Patterned Paper
It is the Japanese who repair broken pottery by mending the areas with lacquer dusted with metallic powders. This technique is either called kintsugi (golden joinery) or kintsukuroi (golden repair)
I have taken this idea and created a card front by firstly covering a piece of Basic Black card with adhesive sheet. I added mosaic type pieces of the Designer Series paper and then rubbed the Gilded Leafing over the top to fill the cracks.
The decorated mat was then trimmed to neaten the edges and mounted onto a Basic Black mat. A length of gold ribbon was wrapped around the centre before adding to a Very Vanilla card front.
To finish, the “thanks” dies were layered up by firstly adding adhesive sheet on the back of the detailed black die cut. Mini dimensionals were then used to stick it to the card front.
A bow was added with glue dots and some Black Classic Matte Dots were also scattered on the card front.
Let’s Hop
I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects

Great card Helen. I remember that I did something like this years ago but used embossing powder
What a great card Helen!
Such a pretty elegant card. Hard to believe it was just from scraps!
Love this idea. I find it hard to use the odd shape scraps. The gold leafing worked great. Thanks for sharing this technique!
Love all the angles you have created Helen, almost like a mosaic effect, stunning x
