Having used my “Follow Your Art” Bundle as my product of the week this last week, I thought I would use it one more time before I put it back on the shelf. The colour challenge over at TGIF seemed like the perfect excuse. #tgifc223
My Project
I thought for this project we would have a bit of smooshing; some colouring direct to stamp with stampin’ write markers and the Stamparatus and some twinkly highlights from my wink of stella.
Smooshing
I took my stampin’ write markers in Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana and Gorgeous Grape and scribbled them on an E sized block. This was then spritzed with water and the colour transferred to a piece of whisper white card that measured 13.4cm x 9cm.
This is one of those techniques that never gives you the same results twice and I love that!
Colouring Direct to Stamp
I wanted the three pens on the stamp to be different colours and the easiest way to do this was using my stampin write markers and my Stamparatus. Once my stamp was lined up with my whisper white card, I could colour one pen at a time, stamp it and then move on to the next pen, confident that the image wouldn’t move and would still align beautifully with the co-ordinating die. Before die-cutting the pens, I used the wink of stella to paint over them. As well as adding sparkle, this also drags the colour out a little.
Whilst I had my die cutting machine out, I also cut pens in melon mambo, gorgeous grape and coastal cabana cardstock to use as a shadow behind the stamped images. I also cut a paper clip from each colour and the 3 small press studs from gorgeous grape cardstock. Lastly using the layering squares dies I cut a square from Whisper White cardstock and a larger layering square from Gorgeous Grape.
Bringing it together.
I created a UK sized C6 card base from Coastal Cabana card, by cutting a piece of A4 cardstock in half (21cm x 14.9cm) and then scoring it a 10.5 cm.
I then cut a mat of Melon Mambo card measuring 14.4cm x 10cm and a Gorgeous Grape mat measuring 13.9cm x 9.5cm.
With all the pieces gathered I could put the card together.
- I stuck the Melon mambo to the Coastal Cabana card base.
- Then I attached the “smooshed” Whisper White layer to the Gorgeous Grape Mat
- Next, I wrapped a length of the tricolour ribbon around these mats and stuck them to the back with tear and tape.
- I used a 2nd smaller piece of ribbon to tie a knot on the front
- This topper was attached to the card base using dimensionals
- I stuck the small whisper white square to the gorgeous grape square.
- The solid colour pens were adhered to the back of their co-ordinating stamped pen, leaving an edge as a shadow.
- These pens were arranged and stuck in place on the squares. I also stuck 2 of the paper clips on the square.
- I stamped the greeting on a piece of whisper white in Gorgeous Grape ink and cut the end at an angle. It was then matted onto some Melon Mambo cardstock and I added the third paper clip before sticking it in place with dimensionals.
- The finishing touch was the Gorgeous Grape press studs that had been painted with wink of stella.
Loving it
This is such a scrummy colour combination and I could have used so many different stamp sets with it – butterflies, flowers, fairies, dinosaurs. The list is endless. I am, however, very happy with my little collection of bright pens.
If you live in the UK and would like to add any of the items I used to your crafty stash, then either click on the supplies below, or head over to my online shop.
