Colouring DSP to create Bold Backgrounds

For today’s post I have been colouring DSP to create bold Backgrounds using the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series paper.

This card is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating Hot Air Balloon Day.

We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

Colouring DSP to create Bold Backgrounds

I am sharing a bright and cheerful birthday card that I originally created for one of my recent classes.

The star of this project is the beautiful Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper. What I especially love about this collection is the contrast between the designs. One side features bold black-and-white background patterns, while the reverse has gorgeous sketched floral images that look as though they are waiting to be coloured in.

For this card I combined two of the patterned papers — one with vibrant sketched flowers and another with a striking black-and-white polka dot design. The dramatic black backgrounds really allow the colours to stand out beautifully.

I coloured the floral elements and butterflies using Stampin’ Blends in classic primary-inspired shades:

• Poppy Parade
• Daffodil Delight
• Granny Apple Green

These colours give the card such a fun, summery feel and work perfectly with the playful birthday theme.

The butterfly border and layered labels were created using the Bordered in Beauty Bundle and I finished the card with a sentiment from the Banner Sayings Stamp Set. A few bright epoxy embellishments add a little sparkle and help tie in the challenge elements. These embellishments were from the Ladybug Garden Epoxy Shapes and I coloured them with a Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend.
