It is always a joy when you have special things to celebrate amongst your family and friends.

We have had a few such occasions in our family over the past couple of weeks and I wanted to share with you a couple of cards I have created to celebrate.

Wings to Fly

The first card started out as a project at the Monday afternoon craft group I attend. I brought my frame stamped onto lolly sticks home to finish. I created the brick wall backdrop by embossing a square of cajun craze cardstock with the Bricks and Mortar Embossing Folder. I then sponged it with Craft Ink and Early Espresso ink to give different tones to the brickwork. Using the bokeh style stamp from the Beauty Abounds stamp set, I added in some splodges.

The Ladybirds were coloured with Stampin’ Blends and I added some Wink of Stella to the ladybird’s wings and some drops of shimmery crystal effects to the flower.

The sentiment on this card made it the perfect card to give to my son’s fiancée as she prepares to start her new job today.

Welcome Baby

The second card was created to celebrate the arrival of my new Great Niece.

I just love the Little Elephant Stamp set with its coordinating punch. I stamped the big elephant in Gray Granite and the small elephant in Blushing Bride. I punched them both out and then punched out ears for them both from the same gingham paper I have used for the background. This comes from the Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper pack from the coordinations range.

The card base is an side opening landscape card in Blushing Bride and it has a Whisper White mat backing the DSP layer.

I layered the elephants onto a heart, again from the Pleased as Punch paper, but this time punched with the straight edged heart and backed onto a scalloped heart punched from Blushing Bride. A swirl of polka dot tuille was attached to the back of the heart before it was adhered to the card with dimensionals. The welcome baby words were cut with the well written dies and added to the front, along with a sprinkling of sequins.

We have more babies to come in the family. My Great Nephew is due any day (lots of baby blessings for my sister – she will have her hands full babysitting them both). And Mike and I have received the wonderful news that Grandchild number 3 is due in the Autumn. I wonder what new baby stamps there will be in the New Annual catalogue this summer?
