Creating A Paper Floral Wall Hanging

For today’s post I have been creating a paper floral wall hanging

This project is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating National Friendship Day.

We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

Creating A Paper Floral Wall Hanging

I decided to share something a little different from a card this time. This floral hanging decoration was one of the projects I designed for a recent Love-a-Duckie All Day Retreat, using the beautiful Bloom Boutique Suite.

The decoration is made up of three layered, scalloped panels in different sizes, all joined together with ribbon. I love how the ribbon not only connects the individual elements but also allows the finished project to be hung on a wall, cupboard handle or noticeboard.

The soft green, blue, yellow and pink shades give the project a fresh, gentle feel. Each panel has its own arrangement of flowers, foliage and butterflies, while still coordinating with the others. The flowers and butterflies have all been embossed with white embossing powder and colour has been softly added with Blending Brushes.

The largest panel is the real focal point, with a generous cluster of flowers layered over the pretty patterned paper. I added the die-cut words “bloom”, along with small floral details, leaves and embellishments tucked around the arrangement.

The middle section features the cheerful “let joy” sentiment, surrounded by flowers and another delicate butterfly. A smaller floral and butterfly embellishment at the top completes the hanging and helps to balance the design.

The butterflies were created using the Extraordinary Life stamp set. Their delicate embossed outlines work beautifully alongside the bolder flowers from the Bloom Boutique Suite, and a few carefully placed embellishments add just the right amount of shine.

This was such an enjoyable project to create and a lovely change from making cards. It would also make a thoughtful handmade gift for a friend—particularly appropriate for a challenge celebrating friendship!
