Creating A Watercolour Rainbow On A Magic Card

For today’s post I have been creating a watercolour rainbow on a magic card.

This card is my contribution to the Design Team’s selection for the latest Festive Friday Challenge, which is celebrating National Unicorn Day

We have used this occasion to come up with a list of elements that we call our Inspo List.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

Creating A Watercolour Rainbow On A Magic Card

National Unicorn Day meant we had to use all things bright, sparkly and full of magic!

I couldn’t resist going all-in on the rainbow theme, creating a soft water coloured background on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper that blends through the colours of the spectrum.

I used:

• poppy Parade
• Pumpkin Pie
• Daffodil Delight
• Granny Apple Green
• Azure Afternoon
• Secret Sea
• Gorgeous Grape

I stamped some small clusters of stars over this water coloured rainbow using White Craft ink. and a stamp from the Swirled Design set. Over the top, I layered bold black die-cut stars from the Swirled Designs Bundle to really ground the design and add contrast.

The white embossed sentiment strip—“Fill the world with”—comes from the Hope, Love & Joy stamp set and ties everything together beautifully. To finish, I added the word MAGIC using the Mini Alphabet Dies, giving it a strong focal point at the base of the card.

A little loop of coloured twine, which I created using Stampin’ Blends, adds texture and movement, while sparkle gems bring just the right amount of shimmer—because a unicorn-inspired card definitely needs a bit of sparkle!

This card is a celebration of colour, creativity, and joy—and I hope it inspires you to join in with this week’s challenge.
