Today’s blog post is exploring faux dry embossing in card making.
This hop is open to demonstrators around the world and is focused each month on different techniques.
This month’s technique is Faux Dry Embossing
Faux Dry Embossing in Card making.
Faux Dry Embossing is the technique where instead of using an embossing folder, you create a raised textured background with the use of die cuts stuck to the mat of card. For my card I used the beautiful Sketched Butterflies bundle which can be found in the Annual catalogue.
You can see a full list of the products I have used at the end of the post, including links to my online shop.
Butterflies Galore.
This bundle has several detailed butterfly dies, one die that has three joined butterflies and two other small butterflies. I cut several out in Summer Splash card and added them to another mat of Summer Splash card.
The large butterfly image was stamped in Summer Splash ink and a Blender Pen was used to drag some of the colour out. I then used my watercolor pencils to add some more colour, blending them with the Blender Pen.
Once I was happy with my butterfly. he was die cut using the coordinating die.
A Blending Brush was used to add some Summer Splash shading to the centre of a Basic White circle, cut with the Spotlight on Nature dies. I use these dies so often – they are just beautiful. However, rather than leaving it as a circle, I cut the edge off so it would lay flat up against the edge of the card. Having stuck it in place with some dimensionals, I added some ribbon around the whole mat and attached to the back with some tape. I hen stuck the mat to a Summer Splash card base.
All that remained was to tie a bow o white twine around the ribbon, pop on a sentiment and add some In Color Resin Dots.
Let’s Hop
