Inspiration can be found everywhere and today’s project explores finding cardmaking inspiration in poetry. It is my Design Team creation for the latest Festive Friday Challenge.

This new challenge is celebrating International Children’s Book Day which is happening on April 2nd. We used the theme to generate our Inspo List.

The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge.  Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all!  The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!

My project used: children, poetry, bright colours and square.

Finding Cardmaking Inspiration in Poetry

A poem about a purple cow is used to inspire a card using Stampin Up's On The Farm bundle.

I wanted to use a stamp set that would create a fun card for children and lighted upon the On The Farm Bundle. I then googled children’s farm poems and came across this fun one by Gelett Burgess. It gave me the perfect opportunity to play with some bright colours.

The card base is 9.9cm square – you can get three of these cards from an A4 piece of card. If you wanted to get 3 square cards from letter-size cardstock, you would need to make them 3 3/4″ square.

On a Basic White mat I added the fields in Parakeet Party ink. Using a blending brush I blended Parakeet party ink over the top. For the sky I blended Balmy Blue over the top of the card and added some clouds. This mat was then stuck to the card base.

I printed the poem out using purple and backed the paper on some Gorgeous Grape cardstock. This was stuck to the stamped mat on an angle.

Now for a purple cow. She was stamped onto some Basic White card and coloured with Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather Stampin’ Write markers, with a touch of Petal Pink for her nose and udders. The coordinating die made cutting her out easy. I added her to the card front with dimensionals.

To finish. I wrapped some Parakeet Party Metallic Ribbon around the spine of the card and finished with a bow. I also added some Gorgeous Grape Glossy Dots.

Let’s Hop

I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects

How Can I Help?

This little purple cow card is very silly and I am sure it will amuse whichever of my Grandchildren I send it to. It goes to show that there are no rules when it comes to expressing your creativity. I may look out for more inspiration from poetry.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can help with your purchases, or if you have a crafty question.

Meanwhile stay safe and stay well
