Fun Aperture Cards

Just before the Christmas break, I created fun aperture cards with the Picture This Dies from Stampin’ Up on my Live.

There are two dies in the set. One cuts out circular apertures and the other rectangular ones. They both leave a stitched detail on both the frame and the pieces that pop out. They are not tied to any particular stamp set, so you can let your imagination run wild deciding what images to use with them.

I chose two very different styles of stamps for my cards.

My Fun Aperture Cards

This first card would be perfect for children and the young at heart. I combined the fun animals from the Hippo Happiness Stamp set with the bright background paper from the bumper Host set – the Pattern Party 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. You can only purchase this paper with Stampin’ Rewards, so you need to either place a chucky order, or host an event that generates enough sales.

There are a good selection of stamp sets featuring cute creatures that you could use in this style of card, including new sets in the mini catalogue and Sale-a-Bration brochure.

This second card was very different. This features plants trailing down the front and popping out from behind the apertures. There is brick effect paper behind the die cut layer and the sentiment is stamped inside the central aperture. This would work well as a card for a green fingered man, as well as plant loving ladies.

How Can I Help

This fun little set of dies can easily be overlooked in the Annual catalogue, but it has a great many uses. And don’t forget it also cuts you out small stitched circles and rectangles that are fabulous for adding sentiments to all sorts of projects.
