I am delighted and honoured this week to be asked to be a guest designer on the Tic Tac Toe Challenge #59, following on from being the Designer’s Choice a few weeks ago. You can head over and check out the challenge here
When I looked at the grid, the box that caught me eye was “Geometric shapes”, but which way to go with it. In the end I decided to take the righthand vertical column.
- Emboss
- Flowers
- Geometric Shapes.
My Card
I decided alongside bold shapes, I would use bold colours.
I started with a standard Bermuda Bay card base. Using the stitched rectangles, I cut a mat from Basic Black and another in Bermuda Bay. On the Bermuda Bay layer I lightly add a tone on tone stamped image from the All Wired Up background stamp. Having stuck these 2 layers together, I wrapped some black twine around them and finished with a bow. These were then stuck to the card front with dimensionals.
So to decorate my Bermuda Bay base I cut a Mango Melody stitched star, a Melon Mambo stitched square and a Gorgeous Grape stitched circle. I then used 3 different embossing folders to give each shape a different texture.
- Star – Coastal Weave 3D
- Square – Ornate Floral 3D
- Circle – Layered Leaves 3D
For my flower elements I wanted to keep with an angular geometric feel, so I cut some gears from the “Garage Gears” die set in bold colours to use as flowers. The leaves were punched with the leaf punch from Granny Apple Green card stock and I used my well loved and now quite old, Crop-a-Dile to create the flower centre.
I arranged all these elements onto the card base, sticking some down flat with Tombow and raising others up with dimensionals. All that was needed now was a greeting, so to add another shape I cut one of the scalloped stitched rectangles from the Sweetly Stitched die set and added a greeting from the “Enjoy Life” stamp set. ” Miss you” cards have suddenly become something we need to send more of.
