I have been getting creative with Glimmer Paper in Christmas Cards.

Welcome to this month’s Stampin’ for Christmas Blog Hop. This is the hop that inspires you to keep creating those Christmas Cards all year around. As we start September, Christmas is going to be more visible in the shops, so now is really the time to get our Festive Creative Juices flowing in earnest.

Glimmer Paper in Christmas Cards

Using Glimmer Paper in Christmas Cards with this Real Red & White glimmer paper from Stampin' Up!

I have two cards to share today. They have one thing in common and that is the use of Real Red & White Glimmer Paper and exploring some techniques with it.

Christmas Scottie

Using the Christmas Scottie bundle from Stampin' Up and combining it with Real Red & White glimmer paper

This first card combines Real Red Glimmer Paper with the Christmas Scottie Bundle.

I have used the Dots & Spots die to cut a mat of Basic Black cardstock and backed this with some Real Red Glimmer Paper.

The swirls on the top and bottom of the Basic White mat are a stamp from the Christmas Scottie stamp set.

The dog is heat embossed with white on Basic White card to give him a slight texture. A black watercolour pencil was used to add some definition to his eye. He is wearing a sparkly Red Glimmer bow, to get him in the Festive Spirit. Both the dog and the bow were punched out with the Scottie Dog Punch

The sentiment has also been heat embossed in white.

This little dog is so cute and of course isn’t just for Christmas. No dog ever should be.

Holly Leaves

Layering coloured acetate onto glimmer paper using the Seasonal label dies from Stampin' Up!

For the second card I used a piece of the returning Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper as a mat on a Basic White card base. I then cut a frame from White Glimmer card and another from Evening Evergreen. I used the middle piece from the Evening Evergreen Frame to place inside the White Glimmer Frame.

To decorate my card I used the Seasonal Label dies to cut Holly leaves from White Glimmer card and Window Sheet and red berries from Real Red Glimmer card. Using a Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blend, I then coloured the Window Sheet leaves. After leaving them to dry, the Window Sheet leaves were layered over the Glimmer paper leaves, sticking them at one end with a glue dot.

These were then arranged in the frame and a sentiment that had been backed in Red Glimmer Paper was added over the top.

You can catch the shimmer through the window sheet and it also adds extra texture and shimmer.
