I want to share with you how to CASE a card. Have you heard people talking about CASEing a project and wonder what they meant?

What Does CASE Mean?

The official Stampin’ Up definition states that “CASE” stands for “Copy and Share Everything”. It sometimes also is interpreted as “Copy and Share Everywhere”, or “Copy and Selectively Edit”. Basically, it is seeing a projecrt that inspires you and recreating it. Sometimes that is exactly and other times just taking elements that you liked to spark your own creativity. E.g. perhaps it was the layout, or the colour scheme.

It is good etiquette, if you are sharing your Case’d creation on a public forum, to credit where you got your inspiration – if you know.

Stampin’ Up! actively encourage the CASEing of the inspiration you find in their publications. This is what makes our catalogues so much more than a list of products. It is a whole handbook of creativity.

How to CASE a Card

As I was sorting through some piles of paper in my Craft room recently, I came across this card. I had created it some time ago with now retired products. I believe I may have CASE’d this originally from some long forgotten source – it may even be the catalogue. The solid images that had been stamped, tone-on-tone in the background stood out to me, as did the layered papers and ribbon. With this in mind, I CASE’d it to create a Christmas Card.

My Peaceful Deer Card

A Peaceful Deer Christmas card using Stampin' Up products that was CASE'd from an old project

Firstly the trees were stamped onto the Just Jade cardstock with Just Jade ink. Secondly, some Tidings of Christmas papers were added. A Cherry Cobbler Striped banner was stuck to the card front. The mat behind the stamped card was cut from Sahara Sand Designer Series paper. Using Sahara Sand ink and Just Jade ink’ the deer, the snow and the trees were stamped onto Basic White Card. The sentiment was stamped onto a strip of patterned paper. Having stuck the stamped card to the paper mat and added the sentiment strip, I then added a swirl of Just Jade Gingham ribbon. This whole piece was then added to the card with dimensionals.

This Peaceful Deer card features stamping, using the Peaceful Deer stamp set from Stampin' Up and the layout is CASE'd

Lastly, the finishing touch was a few Basic Rhinestones scattered amongst the snow.

A list of all the items used is at the bottom of this post, with links to my shop.

How Can I Help?

If you find yourself inspired by a card, have a go at CASEing it. Perhaps try different papers, stamp sets or colours. Not only is this inspiring, but it is also helpful if you have lost a bit of your crafting mojo.

If you have fallen in love with the deer, you can find more projects suing these products on an earlier blog post.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can help with your purchases, or if you have a crafty question.

Meanwhile stay safe and stay well
