How to Create a Layered Botanical Thinking of You Card

Handmade Thinking of You card with layered botanical greenery, overlapping panels and twine bow inspired by a card sketch challenge layout.

When I saw this month’s sketch, I immediately thought it would be perfect for showcasing the beautiful textures and layered elements from the Greenery Lane Bundle and coordinating Washi Tape.

The sketch features overlapping panels and a focal element — ideal for building dimension while keeping the design calm and elegant.

For this card, I used the Greenery Lane Washi Tape to create the narrow panel on the card front. I also combined it with some stamped and die cut images to quickly build up a collection of coordinating foliage elements. One of the things I love most about this product is how easily you can create multiple die-cut images that already work beautifully together.

This foliage was arranged on the Basic White mat that I had first added some Lost Lagoon ink to with a Blending Brush.

Layering different tones of green gives the card depth without feeling busy, while the natural twine bow adds just a touch of rustic texture.

The sentiment panel taken from the Friendly Foliage stamp set, helps anchor the design across the card front — just as suggested in the sketch — tying all the elements together.

I have added some tone-on tone stamped images in the opposite corners of the card along with some Holographic Resin Dots. These reflect the greens beautifully.
