On this post I am showing you how to create a soft monochromatic baby card using one colour

Each week Demonstrators from the Crafty Collaborations Community take part in a Monochromatic Insta Hop over on Instagram. Each week a different colour is chosen and the participants create a monochromatic card.

This week the colour is Balmy Blue.

How to Create a Soft Monochromatic Baby Card Using One Colour

Creating monochromatic cards is one of my favourite ways to explore a colour in a completely different way, and this week’s Monochromatic Insta Hop challenged us to work with Balmy Blue — a colour that feels perfect for a baby project.

For my card, I chose the sweet little elephant from the Big Little Things stamp set. Rather than introducing lots of different colours, I focused on building interest through layers, texture and tone-on-tone stamping.

The background panel has been stamped repeatedly using Balmy Blue ink to create a soft patterned effect featuring the elephant image. This keeps everything cohesive while adding gentle detail without overwhelming the design.

The focal point is a Basic White circle die cut using the Spotlight on Nature dies, where the elephant has been stamped again to create a clean spotlight moment against the monochromatic background.

To add dimension, the word BABY has been die cut twice using the Alphabet À La Mode dies from Balmy Blue cardstock backed with Adhesive Sheets. Stacking the layers gives extra depth while keeping the finish neat and professional.

A length of Balmy Blue Sheer Ribbon softens the design beautifully, and a few embellishments from the Easter Assortment add just the right amount of additional detail.

Monochromatic cards are a wonderful reminder that you don’t need lots of colours to create something special — sometimes one colour used well is more than enough.
