In today’s project I demonstrate how you can distress embossed card.

Each week Demonstrators from the Crafty Collaborations Community take part in a Monochromatic Insta Hop over on Instagram. Each week a different colour is chosen and the participants create a monochromatic card.

The colour this week is Smoky Slate and I can’t wait to see all the other ideas that my fellow demonstrators have come up with

How to Distress Embossed Card

The background mat on this card has been distressed with the Birch 3D Embossing Folder. This is a new folder that will feature in the upcoming Sept- Dec Mini Catalogue. There are, however, lots of other great Embossing Folders you can replicate this technique with.

Having embossed my Smoky Slate card, I then roughened up all four sides with the blade of my paper Snips. Taking some Smoky Slate ink and a Blending Brush I blended ink all around the edge of the mat. Continuing with the Blending Brush, I then gently brushed over the top of the mat to add ink to the raised sections to make them pop a little.

The little beaver, holding his heart made out of twigs, was stamped in Basic Gray onto Basic White. He was then coloured with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends with some touches of SU1000 and SU 900. Finally, the twigs were coloured with Dark Pebbled Path.

I die cut a circle from the Spotlight on Nature set of dies and cut the bottom off. Having been die cut, the beaver was then settled into a nest of leaves that were also die cut using the Fluffiest Friends dies from Soft Sea Foam card.

Some White twine was coloured with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend to sit behind the sentiment and Smoky Slate pearls gave the finishing touch.
