In this post I am going to be sharing how to use a hybrid embossing folder. This one is the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing folder from Stampin’ Up’s January to June mini catalogue.
Who doesn’t enjoy stamping with friends? This group of demonstrators from around the world are no exception and together we have brought you this selection of ideas for Valentine projects.
The Bouquet of Love hybrid embossing folder and additional dies are part of the Love & Happiness Bundle. The stamp setthat coordinates with them features lots of sentiments for Weddings, engagements, anniversaries and of course Valentine’s Day.
My Project
I thought for this square Valentine card I would go with a red and black colour scheme. The hybrid embossing folder consists of a 3D embossing folder and a die that sits inside a groove in the centre of the folder.
When you run the embossing folder through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss with the die in place, you are left with a large embossed frame with a stitched heart aperture and a separate embossed heart.
To create my card, I embossed and cut a square of Poppy Parade Ombre Speciality Paper. It gave quite a distressed finish as some parts of the embossing were showing a white edge. I then took a smaller piece of Basic Black card and cut and embossed just a heart. Using Basic White card I cut another heart, but without embossing. The bundle includes some additional dies, so these were used to die cut some smaller stitched hearts and a sentiment label in both black and white. The sentiment I used came from the Sweet Conversation stamp set.
The red embossed heart was given a distressed look by swiping some Stazon ink across the surface. Black & White twine was tied around it. The white heart was inlaid in the aperture on the frame. The dies and sentiment were then arranged on the card front using dimensionals to add depth where needed. To finish a few Matte Black dots were scattered across the card front.
This card is bursting with texture and that Ombre Speciality paper has a real glimmer.
