A customer was telling me this week that she would like to reduce the number of Baby Wipes she uses in her craft room. This led to a discussion about the tools we have available to us in the Stampin’ Up catalogue to help us clean our stamps.
I thought I would share the range of tools with you today.
The Classics
The Stampin’ Scrub is a well loved favourite. This 7″ square tool opens up to reveal 2 pads inside. One side is sprayed with the stampin’ mist spray that is available separately and the other side is left dry. Rub your stamp on the wet side to clean it and then dry it on the other, The spray cleans and conditions your stamp. The fibres in the pads grab the ink, so periodically wash the pads to remove the ink and leave them to drip dry.
Stazon cleaner has also been around for a while. Stazon, as it names suggests, is a permanent ink – it stays on! This cleaner will clean stazon from your stamps (and other surfaces). Don’t use it too regularly and it is not recommended with your photopolymer stamps, because over time it can affect them.
Recent additions
The Simply Shammy is a relative new kid on the block. Just dampen it and then use it to wipe your stamps clean. There are no lint fibres left on your stamps and no chemicals are involved. Simply leave your shammy to air dry and then wet it when you are ready to use it. They do get stained. Just rinse them out to remove any excess ink. The staining won’t affect its use. It is purely cosmetic. This is a great tool for using with your Stamparatus and you can even cut it down in size if preferred.
The latest addition to the cleaning tools is this compact stamp cleaning pad. It removes Classic Stampin’ Ink and Craft Stampin’ Ink from photopolymer and rubber stamps. Small and portable, it measures 10.5 x 6.7 cm. When using on cling stamps, you do need to rinse the stamp with water immediately after use. This is to protect the adhesive on the cling label.
