In this blog post I am sharing a project where I have been masking stamped images to create a bouquet of water coloured flowers.
The theme of this Blog Hop with the Stamping With Friends group of Demonstrators, is “A Bouquet of Flowers”. There are some beautiful floral products in the new Annual Catalogue and they don’t come much better than the Hues of Happiness Suite.
I used this suite on a recent Live and now I am sharing my projects with you here.
Masking Stamped Images
In this first card I was masking stamped images to build up a bouquet of roses in Stazon ink on Shimmery White cardstock. I then used my water painters and ink to add colour to the flowers.
Next, the finished mat was die cut to give it the appearance of having been torn from a notebook. There are two dies in the set that create this type of effect. They would be great for scrapbooking as well as cardmaking.
This Stamped mat was then matted onto some Basic Black card.
To create the Melon Mambo mat in the background another detailed die from the set was used to cut the swirly pattern. Some sections of this die cut pattern don’t cut out completely, but instead lift up to form a 3d effect. This Melon Mambo mat was stuck to a Basic Black card base and then the stamped mat was added with dimensionals.
I added three different coloured Glossy Dots to the card front to finish.
The card needs an insert. You would be able to add a strip of Designer Series Paper, or stamp one of the images to decorate your insert.
Quick & Easy Cards
I also created a couple of Quick & East cards using the stunning Designer Series Paper. Both of the front panels on these two cards were cut from ne piece of Designer Series paper. The pattern on the paper starts with blues, purples and lilacs at the top and moves down to pinks and yellows.
So to create the panels on the front, I simply cut a strip of DSP measuring 5.5cm wide and cut each piece to 13.9cm long, (2 1/4″ x 5″). The watercolour wash effect backgrounds are also mats of the Designer Series Papers. The sentiments on both cards were from the Happiness Abounds stamp set. For the yellow card, I die cut stitched circles using the new Stylish Shapes dies and added a die cut flower from the paper. Both cards feature some of the Glossy Dots Assortment Embellishments. I think these are going to be used a lot!
This Quick & Easy cards are great if you are in a hurry, but no less beautiful because they have been created at speed.
You can see all these cards being created on this video.
