I have created a monochrome slimline musical card for the latest Festive Friday Challenge.
For challenge #111 we are celebrating World Music Day which occurs on June 21st. This upcoming festivity was therefore, our inspiration as we brought together the Inspo List.
The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!
My project used: music notes, black, white, embossing, circles, slimline card
My Monochrome Slimline Musical Card
The focus of this card is the Merry Melody 3D Embossing folder and then the sentiment is from the Sweet Songbirds Stamp Set.
Instructions
- This card was a DL sized card, which is created by taking a piece of basic Black card measuring 19.8cm x 21cm and then scoring and folding it in half on the short side. This card size, created from 2/3 of a piece of Metric A4 card is slightly larger that the slimline cards that fit our lovely Stampin’ Up envelopes, but envelopes are readily available for these DL cards here in the UK.
- Then a 20.5cm x 9.4cm mat of Basic White cardstock was added to the card front.
- The top section of a 8.9cm x 20cm mat of Basic Black card was embossed with the Merry Melody 3D embossing folder and afterwards a White Craft Ink pad was then run over the top of the embossing to make the music pop.
- Some Gingham ribbon was then wrapped around the bottom of the embossed section and stuck to the back. A knot was then tied around the ribbon strip with another small piece of Gingham ribbon.
- The sentiment was stamped in Versamark before being heat embossed in white.
- Using the Layering Circles dies, 3 rings were cut in black card and stuck over the sentiment and parts of the musical background before stitching was added using a White Watercolor Pencil.
- This embossed mat was then stuck to the card front.
- Finally, a 8.9cm x 20cm mat of Basic White was stuck to the inside of the card.

Great slimline card Helen, such a nice detail to add the stitching to the circles!
What a great design, Helen. Love the detail of the “stitched” circle die cuts and the ribbon. Great card for our challenge.
Beautiful, Helen! I love how you inked the music notes to make them stand out. What a great slimline design!
