My project for this week’s new Festive Friday Challenge is a using non-traditional colours for a Christmas Card.
The theme for the challlenge is actually National Cat Day, but I don’t have a cat in sight.
The Inspo List is 10 items you can choose from to create your project in our card making and paper crafting challenge. Incorporate THREE of the items in your project and link up! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about the theme at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with a fun and interesting inspiration list!
My project used: heart, orange, texture, bell, flocking and a love sentiment.

Instructions
- Fold the card base along the score line.
- Taking the decorative border die from the Gingerbread dies, cut down the left side of the Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Emboss the largest section of the cardstock with the Tasteful Textile 3d embossing folder to add texture to the cardstock. Stick the 3 sections of the Pumpkin Pie cardstock to the front of the card base, interlocking the die cut pieces.
- Take a piece of the Basic White ribbon and add Pumpkin Pie stripes to the two outer edges with a Stampin’ Blend. Wrap around the base of the DSP and tie a knot.
- Add the Pumpkin Pie DSP strip to the card base.
- Die cut three solid bell shapes out of the Snowy White Velvet Paper. The flocking on this paper gives a soft feel and adds further texture and interest to the card.
- Die cut the detailed bells from Pumpkin Pie cardstock and stick to the velvet bases. The little velvet stitched hearts are die cut with the smallest heart die from the Give-it-a-Whirl die set and then stuck in place on the centre of the bells.
- Stick the three bells down the DSP strip, raising the central one up on dimensionals.
- Stamp the ” Sending You peppermint kisses” and “Wishing you a Merry Christmas” greetings onto Basic White cardstock with Pumpkin Pie ink. Cut the sections out and stick to the card front using a mixture of mini dimensionals and glue dots.
- Finish the card front by adding some white Elegant Faceted Gems.

How Can I Help?
I think we can all agree that these are definitely not traditional Christmas colours, but I have strangely warmed to this Festive Orange card. After all satsumas are traditional fruit to find in the bottom of your stocking on Christmas morning, so why not reflect that in your cards.
If you have been inspired by the projects in this hop, then do create your own Festive Friday project as we celebrate National Cat day.
Don’t hesitate to get in contact if I can help you with your purchases, or if you have any crafty questions.
Meanwhile stay safe and stay well.

I fell in love not only with the design but your choice of colors. So different from original Christmas colors. Beautiflul.
It certainly grew on me Marlene. It seemed very out there when I started.
How pretty! Love the non-traditional colours!
Helen, this is awesome. I never would have thought of using this colour for Christmas.
Beautiful, Helen! I would have never, ever thought of using Pumpkin Pie on a Christmas card, but this is stunning! Way to be creative! Have a wonderful weekend!
Who would have thought that orange would look so good on a Christmas card?! Those bells are fabulous Helen – and not a cat in sight!
Helen, I love that you went with non-traditional colors for your card. Those bells are fabulous and I love how you spaced the sentiment, too. The stitched hearts are the perfect finishing touch.
