I am delighted to bring you this cute festive pocket gift card holder as well as other alternative projects.

First Pocket Gift Card Holder Project

A festive pocket gift card holder using the Sweet Stocking suite from Stampin' Up!

For this first simple fancy fold project, I decided to use the very cute Sweet Stockings Suite of products. Obviously one reason was all the cute little pets that are featured in abundance ready to send everyone Christmas Greetings. This project features the pets on the Designer Series Paper, but there is also a dog, cat and guinea pig/hamster on the stamp set, who are designed to be peeping out of the stockings. In fact, you can see details of all the products used at the end of this post, with links to my shop.

The Pocket

The pocket itself is easy to create. Firstly, I took a 1/2 piece of cardstock (21cm x 14.9cm) and scored it at 10cm and 20cm on the long side and 13.9cm on the short side. For Imperial cardstock that would measure 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4″ and 8″ on the long side and 5″ on the short side.

As can be seen in this template, you need to cut off the shaded areas and cut the notches into the tabs. You then need to simply fold along the score lines and stick the tabs in place.

Sweet Stocking Designer Series Papers from Stampin' Up have been used on the outside and inside of this pocket gift card holder.

The front of the pocket is decorated with a piece of Designer Series Paper measuring 13.5cm x 9cm (3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″). I wrapped a piece of Sheer Pool Party ribbon around the Designer Series Paper before sticking it in place. I have then die cut a label from some more Designer Series Paper and added a dog and mouse which I cut out of the paper. The greeting is from the Sweet Little Stocking stamp set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink before being cut into individual words. The front is finished with some of the coordinating matte dots and a bow from the sheer ribbon.

The Insert

The pull out panel inside the pocket measures 9.5cm x 13.5cm (3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″). I have decorated both sides of this with Designer Series paper measuring 9cm x 13cm (3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″). On this front panel I have die cut and layered up some labels to write a greeting on. The Detailed Trio punch was used to create the hole in the top and both the Striped Grosgrain Pool Party Ribbon and the Sheer Pool Party Ribbon were used.

The pocket on the back of this insert is used to hold the gift card in this project using Stampin' Up's sweet Stocking suite.

For the reverse of this pull out panel I added a pocket so you could pop in a gift card. Alternatively, this could be replaced with money, a letter,or a photograph. The pocket measures 11.5cm x 6cm (4 3/4″ x 2 1/2″) and is scored at 1cm (1/2″) on the 2 short sides and one of the long sides. The corners are cut off where the score lines meet and the tabs are folded under and then stuck in place to create a pocket. Lastly, I have added a 9cm x 4.5cm (4 1/2″ x 1 3/4″) piece of DSP to the pocket to decorate.

Alternative Pocket Gift Card Holder

A pocket card using the Blackberry Beauty suite from Stampin' Up!

This alternative project is a pocket card we made at our last Completely Quackers Games Night. I haven’t turned this one into a gift card holder, instead I have stamped the large inspirational sentiment from the Beauty of Tomorrow stamp set on the inside. This pocket features the stunning Specialty papers from the Blackberry Beauty Suite and some Early Espresso faux suede ribbon.
